genuine windows has a file in c\windows\system32\ which is named "legitcheckctrl" this file is known to contain details about genuinity of windows if it was installed from a genuine cd and and registered online this file will contain hardware id of your pc which is unique windows introduced this file so that the need for registering each time windows is installed is not needed. you just need to copy the file to the its original directory
this file is small in size [in kilo bytes]abt 35kb. you can download this file from some crack sites with such files windows will appear genuine but hardware id will not be present but still it works good
To check, simply open "my computer" then click on its Help then select "is this copy of windows legal?" you will be fired up to the microsoft site and then your windows will be checked for genuine key.
